Trying to figure out what to bring to your super bowl party? My two favorite game day menu items have to be pulled pork and nachos. Separately, they are incredible. Together, they are mind-blowing! There’s just something about the sweetness of the pulled pork and the salty, crunchiness of the nachos that just does it for me. (I’m a huge fan of sweet and savory items!) That’s why these Pulled Pork Nachos are so great; they are the best of both worlds! Continue reading
We’re two weeks out from the Super Bowl and most people are starting to try and figure out what they are going to make as part of their game day menu. Our solution: Crock Pot Pulled Pork With Apple Fennel Slaw!
It’s a great recipe to throw together when you need to feed a lot of people. And while it doesn’t need to be a sporting event to entice you to make this juicy, tender, mouthwatering pulled pork, it provides a damn good excuse to make it! Continue reading
Welcome back to the Stark Naked Cooking Blog! I know, I know, I kind of derailed with posts towards the end of last year — bad Victoria. However, I’m back, better than ever, and am SUPER excited about what’s to come this year! I’ve got some wonderfully delicious recipes I’ve been working on over the winter and can’t wait to share them with you all! Dare I say “Y’all“? Oh, I dare!
To kick off the year, we are going to start with one of my favorite meals to make: Red Wine-Braised Chicken Legs with Creamy Garlic Mashed Potatoes! Continue reading
Flour tortillas have been on my mind a lot lately. I’ve been in this breakfast burrito kick, making them every morning before I head into work. Which got me thinking: “How hard could it be to make my own flour tortillas?”. I mean, not only would it be fun to learn how to make them – I love making things with my hands – but I’m using them so frequently that it would probably be beneficial to my wallet as well. ($$ Bills!) Continue reading
I absolutely LOVE bread! Which is why showing you how to make Homemade Burger Buns from Scratch gets me all giddy inside! It’s just that there are SO many varieties between the different shapes, textures, smells and tastes that it’s truly my Achilles heal. I recently went into a bakery section of a Wegmans that opened near my apartment and I’m fairly certain I just stared at all of the loaves drooling for probably a solid 5 minutes like I was a kid in a candy shop. Not going to lie. It was fantastic! I wonder if they’re hiring…. haha. But seriously… Continue reading
I’ve been on a quest for cold lunch/dinner options lately. Where I live it’s been in the 90s for the last week or so and turning on my stove for anything longer than 10 minutes is torturous. So when I was combing through recipes I had in my little black book and saw this recipe for Creamy Shrimp and Dill Salad, I was super elated! Continue reading
Surprisingly, food is a big part of my life. (I know, complete shocker, right?!) Technically, it’s a big part of everyone’s life, as we need substance to fuel our bodies. However, I’m not just talking about a food for livelihood’s sake. I’m talking about the more adventurous side of food. The exploratory side, as it were. Which is why living in Spain was such an amazing experience!
Besides the culture and amazing sites, food was such a mind blowing experience when I lived there. With jamón iberico, cochinillo (baby pig) and a variety of tapas that would make your mouth salivate so much it would make Pavlov proud, it’s not hard to understand how someone could grow a spirit of culinary curiosity. That’s why I decided to tackle one recipe that I always loved ordering when I went out: Spanish Tortilla, also known as Tortilla Espanola! (Spanish accent required.) Continue reading
Summer seafood special: steamers! (I love me some alliteration 😉 ) Seafood is a favorite in our household, but lately we haven’t made it too frequently. Until this past week, since it was my boyfriend’s birthday. I decided to surprise him with steamed clams in a white wine basil sauce and some leftover artisan bread for dinner. It turned out so freaking good! Continue reading
I have a confession… The last few weeks I’ve been obsessed with watching the Great British Baking Show on Netflix. Not just the actual show though, but the Masterclass series where the judges, Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood, bake their interpretations of the challenges from the show. (Didn’t know there was a Masterclass series, eh? Well, you’re welcome.)
To be honest, it was something that I originally started to help pass the time while recovering, however it’s actually SUPER fascinating! All of those baked cakes, torts and breads. (Drool…) It actually reinvigorated my love of baking and got me itching to make a homemade artisan bread! Which is the recipe I bring to you all today! Continue reading
I hope everyone in the Tri-State area has been keeping cool the past couple of days. With all this heat, you may be trying to figure out a great recipe for dinner that is simple to throw together. (Nobody wants to think too hard with preparing a meal when it’s hot out.) In honor of that, this week we will be making meatballs. But not just any type of meatballs. We’ll be making ginger chicken meatballs! Yummm… Continue reading
